The restaurant chain shut down four locations in the Denver metro area last month and said in court filings it wants to close four more.

DENVER — Red Lobster said in court filings last week that it wants to close dozens more restaurants after its bankruptcy, and four of those locations are in Colorado.

Last month, more than 80 locations of the casual dining chain abruptly closed in at least 27 states. In Colorado, the locations that closed were in Lakewood, Lone Tree, Wheat Ridge and Denver.

Days after shuttering the restaurants, the 56-year-old chain that brought seafood to the masses with inventions like popcorn shrimp and “endless” seafood filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

The company recently revealed in bankruptcy court documents a list of more than 130 additional locations it may want to close if it’s unable to renegotiate their leases.

The additional Red Lobsters that might close in Colorado are:

  • 4925 N. Academy Blvd., Colorado Springs
  • 3301 S. College Ave., Fort Collins
  • 2885 23rd St., Greeley
  • 3306 N. Elizabeth St., Pueblo

In the filings, Red Lobster listed locations where it wishes to reject the leases because they “are likely to continue to drive losses” if everything is kept the same. Restaurant Business Online was first to report the possibility of additional closures.

If those four locations closed as part of bankruptcy proceedings, that would leave eight Red Lobsters in Colorado.

The latest list of possible closures also includes locations in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington and West Virginia.

Red Lobster has yet to announce or confirm any additional store closings.

According to court filings, Red Lobster has 551 U.S. restaurants, 27 restaurants in Canada and 27 franchised locations in Mexico, Japan, Ecuador and Thailand. The company said it has 36,000 employees in the U.S. and Canada.

This story includes reporting by Andrew Weil and Melissa Hernandez De La Cruz.
