It will truly be the dawn of a new era in Morgantown because, as expected, Neal Brown’s roster is no more and Rich Rodriguez’s overhaul is in progress. The Mountaineers lost 25 players to the portal (still only the 2nd most in the Big 12) and rebounded with 29 newcomers.
The highlight? Ratings will point to Harrington but the real jewel might be the newest name added to Morgantown, former UTSA defender Robinson. A 6-foot-5, 250 pound edge/outside linebacker, Robinson was crowned AAC Defensive Player of the Year after a 10.5 sack, 17 TFL campaign in 2024. He should quickly help boost a defense that allowed the third-most first downs and fifth-fewest sacks in the league last fall.
There’s also tailback Tye Edwards, a former NJCAA All-American in Hutchinson who became a 1,000+ yard rusher for a middling UNI offense this year in the Missouri Valley. Standing 6-feet-4, 240+ he’ll compliment returner Jahiem White the same way CJ Donaldson did the past two seasons.
