The shot was Philadelphia’s fourth of the period and ninth of the game, compared to 24 for Edmonton.
“I thought we did a really good job sticking with it,” Savoie said. “I thought the second period we controlled play lots, we had a lot of possession, lots of looks in their zone, just wasn’t going in for us. Thought we did a good job sticking with it in the third and then obviously in overtime.”
Philadelphia’s Travis Konecny tipped a Travis Sanheim shot past Skinner with 24 seconds remaining in the third period, but the goal was overturned when replay review showed Flyers forward Owen Tippett was offside entering the offensive zone.
“It hurts,” Tippett said. “I think you stick with it with a team like that, I think with 20 seconds left you win the game. Nobody knows on the ice it’s offside. Definitely stings.”
