Police said a shotgun used in the crime was seized at the scene.
SAN ANTONIO — A family argument turned violent Tuesday afternoon when police say a 15-year-old shot and killed his mother before being taken into custody.
The gunfire rang out shortly after 2 p.m. in west San Antonio in the 1500 block of Delgado Street, near the intersection with Northwest 19th Street. Police Chief William McManus said the murder weapon, a shotgun, was seized by responding officers.
“I can’t imagine what may have prompted that, but at any rate the mother was shot by a juvenile and that’s where we are right now,” McManus said, adding the mother was shot in the back of her head.
The unidentified suspect fled to another home where he was eventually found. McManus said there hadn’t been calls for “domestic-related events” to the home in recent weeks.
Police haven’t yet said what charges the boy might face.
