The Scottsdale Firefighters Association has made a $5,000 donation to the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy as part of its newly launched “We’re Here For You” program.
The donation, presented on Thursday, Sept. 26, at the McDowell Sonoran Preserve – Gateway Trailhead, reflects the association’s commitment to community service and environmental stewardship, according to a press release.
The program includes outreach efforts such as newsletters, speaking engagements and charitable contributions aimed at improving quality of life in Scottsdale, the release states.
The association plays a key role in wildfire prevention and protection of the McDowell Sonoran Preserve. The donation marks the first contribution under the new initiative.
“The Preserve is the crown jewel of our city, and those who look after it, such as the Conservancy, deserve our thanks and financial support,” said Mr. Sasha Weller, president of the Scottsdale Firefighters Association. “The Conservancy seemed like a great place to start.”
Mr. Mike Roberts, interim CEO of the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy, accepted the donation and expressed gratitude for the recognition.
“It’s an honor to receive support from the firefighters,” Mr. Roberts said. “We have great respect for their professionalism, community service and the training they provide.”
