SeaWorld San Antonio in Texas has announced plans for a new family-friendly zone called ‘Rescue Jr.’ with the new ‘Beach Rescue Racer’ roller coaster.
Opening in spring 2025, Rescue Jr. is described as a “friendly world of discovery” in a news release from United Parks & Resorts, SeaWorld San Antonio’s operator.
Inspired by SeaWorld‘s animal rescue and rehabilitation efforts, Rescue Jr. includes immersive rides, climbing structures and unique water features, as follows:
Beach Rescue Racer is a new 1,000-foot coaster with ride vehicles in the shape of beach jeeps featuring graphics of different species.
‘Ocean Quest Express’ is a train ride themed to a thrilling sea rescue search, ‘Tide Pool Tumble’ is a splash pad play area, and ‘Seabird Swing’ is a children’s wave swinger ride.
“Rescue Jr. will be an exciting addition to our park and put marine animal rescue at the forefront with our guests,” said Jeff Davis, park president of SeaWorld San Antonio.
“The new play area will be a fun and exciting way for our guests to learn about the animal rescues that our dedicated teams do every day, 365 days a year.
“We know that Rescue Jr., along with all of our animal habitats and presentations, will ignite a passion in young hearts, inspiring them to become future animal rescuers, scientists, veterinarians or conservationists.”

SeaWorld San Diego is also home to a Rescue Jr. area. This offers rides, aquatic attractions and climbing structures, all inspired by SeaWorld’s animal rescue and rehabilitation efforts.
The estimated construction cost of Rescue Jr. at SeaWorld San Antonio is $6 million.
Earlier this year, SeaWorld San Antonio opened Catapult Falls – the world’s steepest flume coaster, and also the only flume ride in North America with a vertical lift.
Elsewhere, SeaWorld Orlando in Florida is opening an Arctic-themed flying theatre experience in spring 2025.
