The Cyclones finished with a program-best 11-3 record and earned their first bowl win since the 2020 season, which ended with a Fiesta Bowl victory.
The 2024 season featured several milestones. Iowa State started the year 7-0 to match its best start since 1938. It also started Big 12 Conference play 4-0 for the first time ever. The Cyclones got their first 10-win season and made their second Big 12 title game appearance. Head coach Matt Campbell became the winningest coach in school history with Iowa State’s 20-0 win over Houston on Sept. 28.

Iowa State finished the season ranked No. 15 in the Associated Press Poll. Previously, Iowa State was ranked No. 18. It is the second-highest final AP ranking in program history. The Cyclones closed the 2020 campaign ranked No. 9 in the end-of-season AP rankings.
The Cyclones also finished at No. 15 in the final US LBM Coaches Poll. The Cyclones were ranked No. 19 in the previous US LBM Coaches Poll.
