EUGENE, Ore. — Junior Vera Sjöberg of the Boston University track & field team qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships final in the 1500m run on night one of the meet on Thursday at historic Hayward Field.
The Stockholm, Sweden native ran a time of 4:10.59 to earn her spot in the final, finishing sixth in her 12-person heat and sixth of all preliminary runners. She will race in the final at 9:11 p.m. ET, Saturday, June 14.
Sjöberg, who will graduate in August of this year, is the first Terrier to ever race in multiple events at the NCAA Outdoor Championships as she will compete in both the 1500m final and the 5000m final on Saturday, with the latter kicking off at 10:55 p.m. ET.
She will look to add two First Team All-America honors to her resume after receiving the honor at the 2025 NCAA Indoor Championships in the mile. BU’s last woman to earn First Team All-America status at the Outdoor Championships was Allison Barwise in 2014, who finished sixth in the high jump.
Both races will be broadcast live on ESPN 2 and streamed online on ESPN+.
