On July 10, 2025, at approximately 11:38 a.m., State Police responded to a fatal crash involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck on Route 5 in the town of Kirkland.
A preliminary investigation revealed a 2024 Chevrolet Colorado, driven by Ronald J. Jubis, age 78, of Marcy, NY, was making a left turn (eastbound) from French Road onto Route 5. At the same time, a 2006 Suzuki GSX-R motorcycle, operated by David A. Humphrey II, age 34, of Herkimer, NY, was traveling westbound on Route 5 and struck the rear driver’s side door of the pickup truck. Humphrey was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Jubis was transported to Wynn Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit responded to assist with the investigation, which remains ongoing.
