A recent slew of burglaries has hit businesses along Germantown Parkway in Memphis, with the latest incident occurring at JJ’s Tropical. According to a report by the Memphis Police Department, the burglary occurred last Monday, when officers were called to the scene at 9:19 AM. Witnesses told the authorities that the suspects used a crowbar to gain entry and were armed with handguns.
The suspects have been tied to additional burglaries on the same day and again nine days later. Last Monday, the Queen of Sheba restaurant at 1250 North Germantown Parkway was targeted, followed by another break-in on Wednesday at My Favorite Mexican at 880 North Germantown Parkway. The assailants reportedly used a dark-colored Nissan sedan with chrome trimming and an unknown temporary tag for their getaway vehicle.
These brazen thefts have alarmed local business owners and patrons alike, highlighting a need for increased security measures in commercial areas. The consecutive nature of the crimes suggests a pattern that police are now investing considerable resources to unravel and halt. Memphis police have yet to disclose the total sum of losses incurred or whether any surveillance footage could aid in recognizing the perpetrators.
