Sugar Land Town Square will host a Black Makers Market this Saturday highlighting dozens of Black small business owners and vendors.
Victoria Reid is the senior marketing manager at Rebees, a real estate company that operates the town square.
“For Black History Month, we wanted to bring together a dynamic showcase of black entrepreneurship and creativity,” she said.
The market is a collaboration with the Feel Good Group, a Houston-based events planning company that organizes markets across the region.
Jasmine Jackson is an event manager for the Feel Good Group. She said organizers plan to have up to 30 vendors at the market this weekend, selling everything from food to home goods and jewelry.
“Each of these entrepreneurs pour their heart and soul into these products,” she said. “So it almost is like a personal experience, even just having a business transaction with them.”
Reid said this event is the town square’s first Black History Month market. She said she’s looking forward to seeing the community come together to celebrate.
“I think growing up in and being in such a diverse environment, such as the greater Houston area, I think we’re all always excited to celebrate different cultures, whether it applies to us or not,” she said. “And so I’m looking forward to just kind of seeing people embrace that and want to be part of that.”
The event will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
