SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — For the past nine years, the Latino Arts Festival has brought an extraordinary celebration of diversity, cultural connections and creativity to Summit County, Utah.
Returning to Canyons Village at Park City Mountain, the festival will come to life June 13-15 with an abundance of Latino and Hispanic art, activities, music and culinary delights.
This three-day event, organized by the Arts Council of Park City & Summit County, brings together an energetic and impressive lineup of Latin American and Hispanic musicians and performers who hail from around the state. The festival also showcases more than 40 visual artists and makers who will display and sell their original artwork and creative goods, such as paintings, weavings, clothing, leatherwork, ceramics and jewelry.
Art provides a powerful avenue through which we can all gain new perspectives, illustrate our shared human experience and understand each other better. The festival serves as a creative and inclusive space for all people to connect and be inspired.
“The Latino Arts Festival has become one of the most celebrated and well-attended events of its kind in our state,” said Andrea Zavala, festival director and community engagement & inclusion coordinator for the Arts Council. “We love to delight festival attendees with an incredibly inclusive, colorful and celebratory weekend that gathers talented artists, performers and chefs from Peru, Mexico, Paraguay, Brazil, Colombia, Argentina and more.”
The Arts Council works year-round to bring this festival to life and endeavors to produce a new offering each year. This year, they are proud to present a new activation, El Mercadito. El Mercadito will be inside a large tented creative area that will emulate a traditional Latin market, providing one-of-a-kind marketplace offerings, including beauty products, authentic treats, traditional crafts and free workshops. Inside El Mercadito, patrons will also find a vibrant display of papel picado, a community-wide art project involving area youth.
The Latino Arts Festival is free, and its entertainment, hands-on activities and educational experiences are for the entire family to enjoy.
