EASTON— For the past three years, Taunton’s Faisal Mass has worked to establish himself as a key player in the Stonehill College football team’s defense, as he was in his time with the Tigers.
Now, the defensive end has a new title to show for that work.
The rising senior was announced as a captain for the 2025 season Thursday in a post on the Skyhawks’ Instagram account, alongside fellow rising senior and former Worcester Academy wide receiver Brigham Dunphy.
Mass is coming off a breakout junior season for Stonehill, appearing in all 11 games with 19 solo tackles and 16 assisted tackles for a total of 35, including a joint team fourth-best 3 tackles for a loss, as well as a deflected pass. He recorded a career-best 5 tackles against Merrimack.
A former standout athlete in both football and basketball at Taunton High, Mass was named the Defensive Player of the Game in his final football game for the Tigers after recording a pick-6 touchdown against Milford. He also played a key role in Taunton boys basketball’s first outright Hockomock Kelley-Rex title as a senior and their run to the Division 1 Round of 16, being named a 2021-22 Taunton Daily Gazette All-Scholastic. He committed to play Stonehill in February 2022 while they were still an NCAA Division 2 program, before the Skyhawks rose to Division 1 FCS status for the 2022-23 academic year.
Stonehill kicks off their 2025 season on Aug. 30 with a trip to Sacred Heart University before holding their home opener on Sept. 6 against Lafayette University.
