The Denver Broncos set their 53-man roster and 17-player practice squad last week and the team has now turned attention toward a Week 1 showdown with the Tennessee Titans.
Ahead of that AFC clash, the Broncos have released an updated depth chart. Of note, rookie running back has moved up from being listed sixth during preseason to now being listed as the No. 2 running back behind starter J.K. Dobbins.
On defense, first-round draft pick Jahdae Barron is listed as a backup cornerback as the No. 2 behind Pat Surtain on the outside and the No. 2 behind Ja’Quan McMillian in the slot. Barron still figures to get regular playing time.
View the complete depth chart below. While it comes straight from the team, fans should note that the Broncos call it their “unofficial” depth chart.
Quarterback (2)
Denver got Sam Ehlinger back on the practice squad as QB3.
Running back (4)
For now, those are the only running backs under contract as the Broncos do not have a running back on the practice squad (but that might change).
Tight end/fullback (4)
Denver also brought back rookie tight end Caleb Lohner and fullback Adam Prentice on the practice squad.
Wide receiver (5)
Expect to see rotational action for Franklin and Bryant as the third- and fourth-string receivers.
Offensive line (9)
- LT: Garett Bolles, Matt Peart
- LG: Ben Powers, Alex Palczewski
- C: Luke Wattenberg, Alex Forsyth
- RG: Quinn Meinerz, Alex Palczewski
- RT: Mike McGlinchey, Frank Crum
No big surprises on the offensive line as all five starters are back from last season.
Defensive line (7)
- DE: Zach Allen, Jordan Jackson
- DT: D.J. Jones, Malcolm Roach
- DE: John Franklin-Myers, Eyioma Uwazurike, Sai’vion Jones
It’s unusual for an NFL team to carry seven defensive linemen, which is a reflection of Denver’s impressive depth in the trenches.
Outside linebacker (5)
The Broncos are also stacked at outside linebacker.
Inside linebacker (4)
Denver will likely elevate a linebacker from the practice squad in Week 1.
Cornerback (5)
Barron begins his rookie season as the team’s top backup cornerback. We’ll see if he’s able to win a starting role.
Safety (5)
The team’s three backup safeties should be key players in the kicking game.
Special teams (3)
- K: Wil Lutz
- P: Jeremy Crawshaw
- LS: Mitchell Fraboni
- KR: Marvin Mims, Jaleel McLaughlin, Tyler Badie
- PR: Marvin Mims, Riley Moss
No big surprises on special teams, although Moss is an interesting choice as the backup punt returner.
The Broncos are considered big favorites at home against the Titans this week. After that game, they’ll go on the road to face the Indianapolis Colts in Week 2.
