MIAMI (WBFF) — Team USA is set to face the Dominican Republic in a semifinal of the World Baseball Classic on Sunday in Miami.
Paul Skenes is starting against the Dominicans’ Luis Severino.
It will be Team USA’s third straight appearance in the semifinals and the fourth overall.
The Dominican Republic is seeking its second title and first since 2013.
The Dominicans are 5-0 in the tournament, have outscored opponents 51-10 while batting .312 and with 14 homers tied the WBC record set by Mexico in 2009.
According to ESPN’s Alden Gonzalez, the game will feature players that have appeared in a combined 52 MLB-All Star games, and have won a combined 32 Silver Sluggers, 11 Gold Gloves, and 5 MVPs.
