The Atlanta Braves will be under new leadership next season.
According to ESPN’s MLB insider Jeff Passan, longtime manager Brian Snitker will not be returning as manager next season for Atlanta. Snitker will, though, remain with the team in a senior advisor role. With Snitker’s departure from the managerial role, here are three of the best options to replace him for next season.
Mark DeRosa
The skipper of Team USA is bound to get a managerial job in the near future and what better place than a spot where he sported the jersey for the first seven seasons of his MLB career.
DeRosa’s knowledge of the game is displayed each and every week on “MLB Central” and he would be a home run hire to take over an excellent Braves roster.
David Ross
Another former Atlanta player, Ross spent four seasons with the Braves, the most of any team he played for. Unlike the previously mentioned DeRosa, Ross does have managerial experience.
Ross was the manager of the Chicago Cubs from 2020-2023. He compiled a 262-284 record while in Chicago, but that does not account for the multiple years of sudden rebuild Ross had to go through. It is known that Ross wants to go after another managerial job and Atlanta seemingly would be a good fit.
Chipper Jones
This one may be a bit of a stretch, but the fanbase would absolutely love to see one of the greatest players in the history of the franchise become manager. Jones spent all 19 seasons of his MLB career with the Braves and is widely considered a fan favorite.
Jones would bring a hard-nosed mentality and attitude to the club that is truthfully hasn’t seen in quite some time. If he is interested in the job, the hiring of Jones would potentially be the best hire to make for the Braves.
