Texas football moved up one spot in the updated AP Top 25 released Sunday afternoon.
The Longhorns entered the week at No. 17. Following their 52-37 win over Arkansas, they rose to No. 16. USC and Georgia Tech, both ranked ahead of Texas coming into play this week, lost their games, but the Longhorns were leapfrogged by Michigan, meaning they only moved up one spot.
In the Coaches Poll, Texas moved up two places. Coach Steve Sarkisian‘s team began the week ranked 18th in that poll, and now sits at No. 16.
Of course, the only ranking that matters this time of year comes from the College Football Playoff selection committee. Those rankings are set to be released on Tuesday.
Texas A&M, the Longhorns’ final regular-season opponent, remained No. 3 in both polls.
