PENDLETON, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – Tri-County Technical College addressed rumors regarding its veterinary technology program.
In a release, the college said that the program is “not in jeopardy of closing and is not at risk of losing accreditation.”
This comes after students were notified on Monday that the department head for the Veterinary Technology program had resigned, the release said.
The dean of the Health Education Division is serving as the interim department head to ensure instructional continuity while the search for a permanent replacement begins, the release said.
According to the release, the Veterinary Technology program remains fully staffed and fully operational despite this transition.
The program continues to be supported by a full-time veterinarian, a program director, and dedicated full‑time and part‑time faculty who are coordinating instructional coverage to ensure all classes, labs, and clinical experiences proceed without interruption, the release said.
The release said students will be able to complete the semester as planned, including hands-on clinical instruction with live animals, which is a core component of their training.
While the arrival of animals for the semester was slightly delayed, they will be on campus beginning March 24, ensuring students receive the full clinical experience required for their education, according to the release.
The release said the program’s accreditation through the American Veterinary Medical Association Committee on Veterinary Technician Education and Activities (AVMA‑CVTEA) remains fully secure.
The college continues to meet all accreditation and regulatory requirements, and staffing and resources are actively monitored to maintain full compliance, the release said.
The college has published a Q&A to provide clarity and address questions from students and community members. The Q&A can be found here.
