Verizon Wireless announced Thursday that the Fresno market will be among the first in the nation to feature the Verizon Frontline Network Slice, dedicated 5G UW (ultra-wideband) network capacity dedicated exclusively for first responders.
The capacity, available in 30 markets nationwide, will provide first responders access to enhanced connectivity, maintaining connection even in population-dense environments and periods of high network congestion.
“When every second counts, Verizon Frontline is the #1 network of choice of first responders, enabling more than 40,000 public safety agencies across the nation,” wrote Verizon Business CEO Kyle Malady in a press release Thursday. “The launch of the Verizon Frontline Network Slice continues our unwavering commitment to meeting the highly specialized needs of first responders and is a crucial step forward in the evolution of public safety communications.”
The rollout also includes Cupertino, San Diego, San Francisco and Los Angeles, as well Seattle, Las Vegas, Minneapolis, Atlanta and Miami and 20 other cities across the country.
Verizon Frontline aims to meet mission-critical communications by providing access to plans featuring the Verizon Frontline Network Slice for the same cost as current 5G UW plans.
