The Utah Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (UHCC) is proud to announce the appointment of Victoria Petro as its new Executive Director. A seasoned leader in nonprofit development, public policy, and community engagement, Petro brings more than a decade of experience advocating for equity, inclusion, and economic opportunity across Utah.
“Victoria brings a powerful combination of visionary leadership, deep community roots, and a proven track record of driving impact across sectors,” said Nelson Altamirano, Board Chair of the Utah Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. “Her strategic mindset and passion for equitable economic growth make her uniquely suited to guide the Chamber into its next chapter. We are thrilled to welcome her as our new Executive Director.”
Petro also serves as a member of the Salt Lake City Council, where she represents District 1 (the Rose Park area) and has held roles as both Vice Chair and Chair. She has led a range of cross-sector initiatives to support small business growth, cultural preservation, and equitable community development. Her career spans executive leadership in the nonprofit sector, strategic consulting, and impact-driven work with organizations including Salty Cricket Composers Collective, the Sorenson Impact Institute, and The Pathway Group.
As Executive Director, Petro will lead the Chamber’s efforts to expand access to resources, elevate Latino and Hispanic entrepreneurs, and build strategic partnerships that foster sustainable economic development. Her appointment marks a significant step forward in the Chamber’s commitment to inclusive leadership and cultural advocacy.
“I am honored to serve Utah’s vibrant and resilient Hispanic business community,” said Petro. “Together, we’ll strengthen networks, grow opportunity, and ensure Latino-owned businesses are acknowledged as the economic force that they are.”
Petro holds degrees from East Carolina University, Brandeis University, and North Carolina State University, and a certificate in nonprofit management from Duke University. She is a past recipient of Salt Lake City’s Deedee Corradini Emerging Leader Award and Utah Women Run’s Martha Hughes Cannon Award for Outstanding Impact in Local Government.
The Utah Hispanic Chamber of Commerce welcomes Petro’s leadership at a time of renewed energy and growth, and looks forward to a new chapter of advocacy, collaboration, and empowerment for Hispanic and Latino communities across the state.
