How good will the Virginia Tech Hokies be in 2024? How good will the ACC be?
Clemson and Florida State are both expected to be among the nation’s top teams, but Louisville, Miami, N.C. State and the Hokies all have a chance to be pretty good in 2024.
The Hokies returned 20 starters from last season’s team that won five of its final seven games. Quarterback Kyron Drones is back and not receiving nearly enough praise on a national level.
VT has all of its top offensive weapons back, too. Wide receivers Quan Felton, Jaylin Lane, Ali Jennings, Stephen Gosnell and Ayden Greene are back. Running backs Bhayshul Tuten and Malachi Thomas are also back.
Don’t sleep on the defense, either. Head coach Brent Pry got cornerbacks Mansoor Delane and Dorian Strong to return for another season and convinced edge rusher Antwaun Powell-Ryland to bypass the NFL draft. After last season, there were some concerns about the defensive tackle position and Pry locked down three high-quality transfers, led by Aeneas Peebles — an All-ACC selection at Duke in 2023.
With the 2024 season rapidly approaching, College Football News has predicted win totals for every ACC team. Here’s what CFN has for the Hokies.
- BetMGM: 8.5
- Caesars: 8
- FanDuel: 8.5
- CFN (Set Win Total At): 7.5
- Consensus Win Total: 8.125
- Virginia Tech Will Win: 7
Fans aren’t likely to be happy with seven wins. Look, it would mean the Hokies are heading in the right direction, but considering how many top players returned, Virginia Tech and its fans expect a lot more in 2024.
CFN had FSU atop the ACC with 10 wins with Clemson and N.C. State coming in at nine predicted wins.
What do you think, Hokie Nation? Do you believe the Hokies will win more than seven games this fall?
