13th Annual Energy Day Festival Sparks STEM Interest Among Houston Students

Houston’s Energy Day Festival returned for its 13th year of energy, education, excitement and engagement on Saturday, Oct. 18 at Sam Houston Park in downtown Houston.

Hosted by the award-winning Consumer Energy Education Foundation (CEEF) from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., this year’s festival built on the momentum of previous years, bringing together K-12 students, educators, families, and energy industry leaders for a day filled with interactive learning and exploration in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

Drawing thousands of attendees each year, Energy Day Festival has become a unique feature of Houston’s educational landscape, bringing the dynamics and innovation of the city’s marquee industry – energy – to students’ imaginations to inspire the next generation of STEM leaders.

“Energy Day is now officially a teenager, having had its 13th birthday. We now have students who were first inspired to seek energy careers at an earlier Energy Day who have since returned as alumni to share their stories and passion with the next generation,” said David Holt, Energy Day Founder and President of Consumer Energy Alliance. “Nothing could be more gratifying than seeing that the hands-on experiences and real-world insights from energy professionals that Energy Day provides have inspired students to seek a STEM career.”

The 2025 Energy Day Festival featured over 50 interactive exhibits, experiments, and demonstrations from Houston’s top companies and organizations, including participating organizations from around the country. Students engaged with industry experts, as they showcased the latest and greatest advancements in energy technology while highlighting the diverse career opportunities available.

“By making it fun and interactive, Energy Day helps students explore this industry and potentially find a path toward the skills and knowledge they need to tackle tomorrow’s challenges,” Holt said. “This door to the future would not be open without the time, generosity and support of Energy Day’s sponsors who have come year after year to help Houston’s students learn.”

In addition to the interactive exhibits, Energy Day 2025 featured the Energy Day Academic Program (EDAP), which offered over $10,000 in academic awards to students and educators who demonstrated creativity, innovation, and dedication in their STEM-related projects. These awards not only recognize excellence but also provide tangible support to those pursuing a future in STEM. Energy Day Festival serves as a testament to Houston’s leadership in energy and innovation, providing a platform for collaboration, education, and exploration.
