DAVIE, Fla. — Police officers interrupted a group of drivers “racing and drifting in the back of warehouses” shortly after 3:15 a.m. on Sunday in Davie, records show.

A police officer saw Bradley Rodriguez driving a white Dodge Charger Scat Pack in the area of Davie Road and Southwest 36 Street, according to a police report.

Rodriguez, 21, drove away from the police officer, but quickly reached a dead end, according to a Davie police officer’s arrest report.

Rodriguez had a Smith & Wesson handgun inside a small bag in the passenger seat and a Daniel Defense AR-15 in the trunk, according to the police arrest report.

Davie police officers arrested Rodriguez, who lives in Miami-Dade County’s Palmetto Estates neighborhood, and corrections booked him at the Broward County Main Jail in Fort Lauderdale, records show.

Rodriguez appeared in bond court on Monday before Broward County Circuit Judge Michele McCaul Ricca. Attorney Daniel Lurvey was representing him.

“He is a plumber. He works for his father’s business. He goes to work every day … there is no indication that he was involved,” Lurvey told McCaul Ricca in court.

McCaul Ricca issued Rodriguez a no-driving order with an exception for work and ordered him to stay away from weapons.

Rodriguez faced charges of using or displaying a firearm during a felony, a second-degree felony; fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement, a third-degree felony; racing a motor vehicle on a highway, parking lot, or roadway, a first-degree misdemeanor; and altering or obscuring a license plate or validation sticker, a second-degree misdemeanor.

McCaul Ricca allowed Rodriguez’s release on recognizance on the license plate and weapons charges, and she set his bond for the other two charges at $4,000. Broward County Circuit Judge George Odom Jr. is set to preside over the case.
