Three people were injured and more than a dozen people have been displaced by a three-alarm fire that started Saturday afternoon in a multifamily home in Boston’s Mattapan neighborhood, according to fire officials. The Boston Fire Department first posted about the fire at 706 Walk Hill St. at 2:20 p.m. Saturday, stating that there were heavy flames in occupied buildings when crews arrived at the scene.Within five minutes, the fire department shared in an update that the fire had burned through the rear porches of the three-family home at 706 Walk Hill St. and that the flames had spread to a nearby building.Shortly after 2:40 p.m., the fire department shared that the heavy flames had been knocked down and that the fire had spread to a neighboring shed and trees that were near the home.Deputy Fire Chief Michael Hocking told members of the media that three people were transported to area hospitals by Boston Emergency Medical Services, but that no injuries were reported by firefighters.”Three civilians took in some pretty good smoke. They’re at the Boston Medical Center now with some smoke inhalation,” Hocking said late Saturday afternoon.A total of 16 people have been displaced by the fire, Hocking said. Hocking said multiple units at a nearby building sustained smoke and water damage.
