What teams might be interested in trading for Indianapolis Colts’ quarterback Anthony Richardson?Miami Dolphins

What teams might be interested in trading for Indianapolis Colts’ quarterback Anthony Richardson?

The Indianapolis Colts have granted permission for quarterback Anthony Richardson to seek a trade.

So where could Richardson end up?

Given how the last year has unfolded, it’s not that surprising that the Colts and Richardson have reached this point.

Last summer, Daniel Jones was named the starting quarterback for the Colts after competing for that role for Richardson. Fast forward to this offseason, and the Colts are working to sign Jones to a multi-year deal.

In addition to that, we also saw Riley Leonard showcase that he could be a capable backup quarterback after his Week 18 performance against Houston. This development may have made trading Richardson all the more plausible.

To get an idea of which teams could be interested in Richardson, I reached out to the other 31 managing editors of our NFL wires network to see who could be interested and why.

I will update this article as more responses come in.

What Cam DaSilva had to say: “With Matthew Stafford coming back for another year, the Rams are set at QB in 2026. However, they don’t have a clear successor to take over after he retires, and Richardson could be a reclamation project for Sean McVay.”

Miami Dolphins

What Mike Masala had to say: “The Dolphins are looking to replace Tua Tagovailoa this offseason, and with Quinn Ewers and Cam Miller as the only other options on the roster, they’ll probably go outside of the building. Richardson’s $10.8 million cap hit is much easier to swallow than Malik Willis, who is now projected to cost more than $20 million. At 23 years old, Richardson’s still young enough that Miami could bring him in to work with new offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik and help him realize his potential.”

Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network has reported that the Vikings are a team to keep an eye on. In Wolfe’s words, there is “mutual interest.”
