On Monday evening, three-star quarterback and rising senior Bobby Coleman Jr. announced his college commitment. Coleman Jr. pledged to Georgia State over offers from programs such as USF, Liberty, and Jacksonville State.

Coleman Jr. reported interest from some major schools early in his recruitment, as Georgia, Texas A&M, and Auburn were all involved at different junctures.

In the end, Coleman Jr. will have an opportunity to play at the FBS level, while not traveling too far from home.

Georgia State offered Coleman Jr. less than two weeks after the program hired Dell McGee as head coach. McGee is 4-20 overall during his two seasons with the Panthers, including a 1-11 mark in 2025.

Coleman Jr. is the highest-ranked quarterback to ever commit to Georgia State.

During his junior season at Central Phenix City High School, Coleman Jr. completed 171/277 passes for 3,000 yards with 33 touchdowns to 9 interceptions. He added 2 more scores on the ground.

Coleman Jr. guided his squad to an 11-2 record and an appearance in the state semifinals, where they came up short against the eventual state champions, Thompson High School. He passed for 200+ yards in nine games, including a season-high 14/24 completions for 337 yards with 4 touchdowns to 1 interception in a 53-24 victory against Enterprise High School on September 19.

The 5-foot-11.5, 180-pound quarterback is regarded as the No. 471 overall prospect, the No. 31 QB, and the No. 20 recruit in Alabama in the 2027 class according to the 247Sports Composite Ratings.
