The FAA says the plane crashed under “unknown circumstances” just after midnight Friday.
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo — Four people were killed when a small plane crashed near Steamboat Springs early Friday.
According to a preliminary report from the FAA, the Epic Aircraft E1000 crashed under unknown circumstances near Emerald Mountain around 12:20 a.m. The Routt County Sheriff confirmed that four people were pronounced dead at the scene. He said the coroner was working to identify the victims and notify their next of kin.
Flight data shows the flight originated in Nashville and stopped in Kansas City before continuing to Steamboat Springs.
The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating.
