It’s a good time to be a Greater Boston diner, with exciting and diverse restaurant openings occurring all over the metro area in 2025 and much more to look forward to in the new year.

Each week, Boston.com will highlight the restaurant openings worth knowing about across the Greater Boston region. Some spots will already be open, while others are set to debut before the end of 2025 or in early 2026. At least one featured restaurant will always be a bonus item — either a pop-up, a collaboration, or event at area restaurants.

What’s new in Greater Boston restaurant openings this week

Ama

The team behind the acclaimed Comfort Kitchen is opening its second restaurant, this time with much more seating (180) inside the new Atlas Hotel in Allston. Ama means “mother” in Nepalese, and Eater Boston reports that many of the dishes will be inspired by the staff’s family members. A rooftop bar from the team will also open later in the year.

Opening date: Early 2026

40 Western Ave., Allston

Bakery Oma

Bow Market just got another sweet treat fix with a new bakery that sells a variety of cakes, cookies, and their signature goodie, the queen puff. They have a daily “puff lineup” that can include flavors like chocolate-vanilla, raspberry-violet, or their classic version topped with caramelized sugar.

Open now (November 2025)

1 Bow Market Way, Somerville

Call Me Honey

Curio Coffee served its last espresso on Dec. 21, but soon enough the shop will get a new name and new owners, both who have worked at Curio before. Call Me Honey hasn’t put out a menu yet, but promises to be a neighborhood cafe serving coffee and liège waffles, a type of Belgian waffle.

Opening date: 2026

441 Cambridge St., Cambridge

Gangnam Spice

A fast-casual spot specializing in Korean street food is now open in Jamaica Plain. Though its menu has other offerings like kimchi fried rice and tteokbokki, the restaurant specializes in Korean fried chicken in sandwich, wing, and tender form, along with a couple of sauces to choose from.

Open now (November 2025)

225 Centre St., Jamaica Plain

Howell joins them as their 13th resident chef for 2026, starting with a special prix fixe meal on New Year’s Eve. Tickets are still available for $71.21.

Event details: Residency stars Dec. 31
