CHICAGO (CBS) — At least two people were killed, and nine others were hurt in shootings during the Memorial Day weekend across Chicago. 

The ages of the victims range from 5 to 62. 

Friday

In the first shooting of the weekend, in the 6400 block of South Marshfield Avenue around 6:40 p.m., a 41-year-old man was approached by someone who pulled out a firearm and shot him.

The victim was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition.

Later in the evening, a 29-year-old man was shot while sitting in his vehicle at a gas station in the 900 block of West Pershing Road.

Chicago police say around 8:12 p.m., two women approached on foot and fired shots.

The victim was taken to U of C by the Chicago Fire Department in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the right leg.

Three other men were shot while outside in the 300 block of West 59th Place just after 10:30 p.m.

A 29-year-old was shot twice in the left leg and self-transported to Providence Hospital in good condition. A 25-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to the right arm and was taken to U of C in good condition. Another 29-year-old was grazed in the right shoulder and self-transported to U of C, also in good condition.

Two men, both in their 20s, were killed after both were shot in the head in an alley just before 11:30 p.m. in the 4700 block of North Troy Street.

A witness told police they saw a black sedan fleeing the area at a high rate of speed after the shooting.

In other shootings from 5 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Tuesday:

Saturday

  • At 12:18 a.m. in the 900 block of West Marquette, a man, 51, was exiting his vehicle when he heard shots and felt pain. The victim was shot in the left elbow and was taken to St Bernard’s Hospital, where he refused medical attention.
  • At 12:35 a.m. in the 5800 block of South Prairie, a 17-year-old boy was walking on the sidewalk when an unknown male offender fired shots at the victim and fled the scene. The victim was grazed on the left side of the neck and was taken to U of in good condition. The circumstances behind the shooting are unknown.
  • At 2:43 a.m. in the 900 block of East 80th Street, a man, 32, was inside a residence with an unknown person pulled out a handgun and fired a shot at him. The victim was grazed in the rear and was taken to U of C in good condition.
  • At 12:05 p.m. in the 2800 block of West 63rd Street, a 44-year-old man was on the sidewalk when he was shot in the neck by an unknown offender. The victim was transported to Christ Hospital in fair condition. 
  • At 3:39 p.m. in the 2700 block of West 68th Street, a 25-year-old man was in a parking lot when he was shot by an unknown person. The victim was struck in the groin and left leg and was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition. 
  • At 9:33 p.m. in the 200 block of North Sacramento Boulevard, a 31-year-old man was walking on the sidewalk when an occupant in a Jeep fired shots. The victim was taken by the CFD to Mt. Sinai in critical condition with multiple gunshot wounds to the body.

  • At 11:27 p.m., in the 1600 block of South California Avenue, two people were sitting in a parked vehicle when occupants in a black SUV fired shots. A 43-year-old was taken to Mt. Sinai in good condition with gunshot wounds to the left shoulder and neck. A 62-year-old man was also taken to Mt. Sinai in serious condition with a gunshot wound to the head.

Sunday

  • At 12:50 a.m. in the 1400 block of South Harding Avenue, a 39-year-old man was standing on the sidewalk when shots were fired. The victim was taken by CFD to Mt. Sinai with multiple gunshots to the body and was later pronounced dead.
  • At 1:15 a.m. in the 0-100 block of West 43rd Street, a 26-year-old man was driving a vehicle when shots were fired. The victim was taken by the CFD to U of C in good condition with a gunshot to his right hand.
  • At 12:30 a.m. in the 6500 block of South Kedzie Avenue, a 22-year-old man was sleeping in the bedroom of a residence when he realized he was shot. The victim was taken by CFD to Holy Cross in fair condition with a gunshot to the right leg.
  • At 12:11 a.m. in the 5300 block of South Carpenter Street, a 32-year-old man was found in an alley with gunshots to both legs. The victim was taken to U of C in critical condition.
  • At 3:10 a.m. in an unknown location, a 23-year-old woman was dropped off at Loretto Hospital with a gunshot to the back. The victim was listed in fair condition and would not cooperate with officers.
  • At 2:58 a.m. in the 1300 block of South Christiana, four people were standing on the sidewalk with a group of people when shots were fired. A 28-year-old man was shot in the back and was taken to Mt. Sinai, where he was pronounced dead. A 33-year-old woman was shot in the legs and also taken to Mt. Sinai in fair condition. An 18-year-old woman was taken to Mt. Sinai with a gunshot to the left leg in good condition. A 25-year-old man self-transported to Rush Hospital with a gunshot to his left leg in good condition.
  • At 3:32 a.m. in the 200 block of South Campbell Avenue, a group of individuals were standing outside when shots were fired. A 5-year-old girl, who was in a parked vehicle, was shot in her upper left abdomen and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. A 24-year-old man, who was standing outside, was shot twice in his left thigh and taken to Stroger in good condition.
  • At 2:57 a.m. in the 800 block of West Division Street, a 25-year-old woman was outside when an unknown offender began firing in her direction. The victim was shot in the head and self-transported herself in good condition to an area hospital.
  • At 10:50 a.m. in the 5100 block of West Division Street, a 29-year-old man was outside when an unknown offender approached and began to fire shots in his direction. The victim was shot multiple times in the body. He was taken to Mt. Sinai, where he was listed in critical condition.
