Wells Fargo & Company and the Wells Fargo Foundation have announced a philanthropic investment of $6.8 million to support community development in South Dallas, with a focus on small business growth, affordable housing, commercial property rehabilitation, and workforce training.

The funds will be directed toward seven nonprofit organizations operating in the area, including Forest Forward, PeopleFund and Cornerstone Community Development Corporation, among others. Their work ranges from restoring the historic Forest Theatre to expanding access to capital for entrepreneurs and launching workforce training programs in high-demand health care fields.

This initiative builds on Wells Fargo’s longer-standing commitment to the Dallas-Fort Worth region. In addition to this investment, the firm recently opened a new corporate campus in Irving and has invested roughly $90 million in philanthropic giving in Texas since 2020, alongside over 235,000 employee volunteer hours.

The company emphasised that this investment aligns with its broader efforts to drive economic mobility and strengthen communities. The grant supports a holistic approach to neighborhood revitalization by combining housing, job creation and business development in a coordinated manner.

KEY QUOTES:

“At Wells Fargo, we’re committed to driving meaningful growth for our customers and employees but also for the communities we serve. Our philanthropic investment in South Dallas is part of a broader effort to support economic mobility and strengthen communities. By working alongside nonprofits, we can help accelerate financial opportunities for people and businesses.”

Darlene Goins, Head of Philanthropy and Community Impact, Wells Fargo

“Dallas is a city of genuine opportunity for everyone, and that opportunity is driven by entrepreneurship, innovation, and strong public-private partnerships. I am sincerely grateful to Wells Fargo and its leadership for their commitment to investing in Dallas communities, empowering trusted local nonprofits, and providing resources small businesses need to succeed. With Wells Fargo’s support, the incredible transformation underway in South Dallas and the Forest District will continue.”

Eric L. Johnson, Mayor of Dallas
