8th Wonder Brewery fends off eviction ahead of World Cup

The business was in a fight with its landlord over the EaDo location.

HOUSTON — A Houston-area brewery has secured a temporary win in court to stay at its longtime home on Polk Street.

A Harris County District judge on May 11 issued a temporary restraining order allowing 8th Wonder Brewery to keep its lease at 2200 Polk St., where it has been operating for 11 years.

The court’s order blocks the landlord, Macey Family Properties Ltd., from seeking to evict or interfering with 8th Wonder’s operations.

8th Wonder had alleged in a May 11 petition that Macey was seeking to terminate its lease in order to profit from the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The brewery, which also sells THC-infused beverages and gummies, has been owned by the hemp company Bayou City Hemp Co. since 2023.

The order runs until May 21, when the case will be heard in the 333rd District Court.
