With the FIFA World Cup headed to Arlington, and crowds the size of a small country coming with it, Airbnb is offering North Texans a chance to cash in.
“We’re really excited. We launched our largest host incentive ever,” said Airbnb spokesperson Sam Randall.
Randall says the home-sharing giant is putting $750 on the table for first-time hosts ready to welcome World Cup visitors.
“That’s in addition to what they would earn, obviously, hosting their place,” Randall said.
Airbnb says the average earnings per host during the World Cup in the DFW area will be about $4,400.
“Demand is surging right now for the World Cup. According to our data, we’ve seen an 80% increase in searches for host cities around the World Cup. So really, we’re looking to bolster some supply,” Randall said.
To take advantage:
- Make sure you’re in a qualifying zip code. There are dozens across North Texas.
- List your entire home with no shared spaces.
- Host your first guests by July 31.
Airbnb is also encouraging people to check local regulations to make sure they are able to host.
