Investigators are looking for anyone in contact with a company that may have scammed storm victims out of insurance checks.
PAW PAW, Mich — Investigators with Michigan State Police (MSP) are looking for possible scam victims.
According to a release sent to 13 ON YOUR SIDE, representatives of Blue Frog Restorations have been going door to door, offering to help storm victims rebuild in exchange for homeowners signing over their insurance checks.
Blue Frog Restorations is no longer in business, at least not in Michigan.
Troopers said the company appears to have done business in Illinois, but is no longer in operation.
An investigation has been started following these claims, and MSP is now hoping to identify possible victims of this company throughout Southwest Michigan.
We were not able to find an accredited business under the name Blue Frog Restorations upon checking with the Better Business Bureau (BBB).
MSP asks anyone who has been contacted by anyone claiming to represent this company to stop all communication with them, cancel any agreements or payments, and reach out to Detective Sgt. Ben Mahaffie at (269) 845-6948.
Restoration or repair company scams run rampant after storms, making it all the more important to ensure you’re doing business with a reputable company.

In order to avoid a scam, the BBB said to research the business before making any payments. If they come to the door, take their contact information down and check online to see if it matches the company they said they represent.
