Being a huge fan of Saturday Night Live, it’s impossible to think of Jim Breuer and not remember Goat Boy, his inimitable character who spoke in a combination of brays amid his comic patter, and his Joe Pesci impersonation, in which he hosted a talk show that always ended with at least one character taking a baseball bat to the back of the head. Breuer wasn’t on the show long, but he left a lasting impression, and his post-SNL career has been an extension of that influence, from comedy tours to movies.
Movie lovers will surely remember him from such films as Half Baked (he would re-create his Brian character on such shows as Chappelle’s Show), Beer League and Zookeeper. And his TV work is equally impressive, from reprising his Pesci character on Family Guy to his Father Phillip character on Kevin Can Wait. In between all this, he’s got a podcast, The Jim Breuer Podcast, and tours constantly, honing his routines to a sharp point.
His targets are ones that resonate with audiences of all stripes: marriage, parenting, relationships and much more. He’s also a heavy metal geek, so don’t be surprised to hear him sing like some of his favorite metal gods.
However you know Breuer, don’t pass up the opportunity to see one of the hardest-working comedians in the business.
