The Denver Broncos have made a splash!
The Miami Dolphins have agreed to trade wide receiver Jaylen Waddle to the Broncos, pending a physical, according to a report from NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. Denver agreed to trade picks in the first (No. 30), third (No. 94) and fourth (No. 130) rounds to Miami in exchange for Waddle and a fourth-round pick (No. 111).
Waddle (5-10, 185 pounds) was picked by the Dolphins in the first round of the 2021 NFL draft out of Alabama. He has totaled 373 receptions for 5,039 yards and 26 touchdowns through his first five seasons (78 games) in the league. Waddle hauled in 64 receptions for 910 yards and six scores in 16 games last fall.
Waddle will provide an immediate boost to Denver’s wide receiver room. He will join a group that featured Courtland Sutton, Pat Bryant, Troy Franklin and Marvin Mims last season.
The Broncos reached out to the Dolphins about Waddle before the in-season trade deadline last November, but they weren’t able to strike a deal. Denver has now landed the 27-year-old receiver, giving quarterback Bo Nix another weapon ahead of his third season in the NFL.
