Houston’s growing bagel scene is getting another national name Thursday when H&H Bagels opens its first Texas location in River Oaks.
The shop will open Sept. 10 at 2850 Westheimer Road, and the first 250 customers will receive a tote bag and an H&H gift card. The grand opening will run from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., the business’ regular hours.
H&H’s arrival comes three months after Houston got its first PopUp Bagels, another national bagel brand, underscoring how quickly the city’s bagel scene is expanding. With H&H, Houston is adding another New York-style chain to a market that has drawn several new bagel shops in recent months.
The brand has appeared in “Sex and the City,” “Seinfeld” and “The Office” and currently has locations in several states and Washington, D.C.
“We’re incredibly excited to bring H&H Bagels to Texas,” said Jay Rushin, CEO of H&H Bagels, in a statement. “The responses to our recent openings around the country have been amazing, and we can’t wait to share an authentic taste of New York with the Houston community.”
The Houston location will be operated by franchisee Noman Khan, a native New Yorker who has lived in Houston for more than a decade.
“A longtime H&H regular whose family previously lived on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, Khan saw an opportunity to bring the authentic New York bagel experience he missed to Houston,” a news release about the opening said.
