An awaited Ikea in North Texas is almost ready to open.

The Swedish retailer, known for its furniture and home goods, is set to open its store in Rockwall on May 13, according to a statement from the company. It will be the fourth in Dallas-Fort Worth and follows the opening of its first Dallas store earlier this year.

The new, one-level store will cover nearly 109,000 square feet and will include furnished room settings that showcase options tailored to Rockwall residents, it said. That footprint is smaller than the Frisco and Grand Prairie sites, which are easily more than twice that size. Still, it’s larger than the Dallas shop.

Rockwall’s new site will display more than 6,000 products with over 3,800 items available for immediate take-away. That includes home furnishing accessories and around 800 smaller furniture items. Also, the full IKEA line will be available to order online, with options for store pickup or delivery.

Ikea, after pulling back on a small operation in Southlake, is extending its reach in North Texas as it competes with rivals Nebraska Furniture Mart, Living Spaces and At Home, among others. The opening is part of a broader $2.2 billion investment in the U.S., and a 10th store in the state is set for Webster in the Houston area.

“Opening IKEA Rockwall is a big moment for us, not only because it’s our ninth store in Texas, but because it’s our first ground-up build since 2019,” said Rob Olson, interim CEO of IKEA U.S., in the statement. “This milestone underscores our confidence in the future of this market and in our mission to create better everyday life at home through affordable, well-designed solutions.”

The new store is located along Interstate 30, and the company notes it offers easy access to major highways connecting Dallas with Texarkana and Little Rock, Ark. The shop includes a Swedish Bistro and an as-is department.
