Ribbon Cuttings Highlight Downtown RevivalWhat Each New Spot Will OfferVero Tea Room Returns to Sixth StreetCity Posts Opening Dates, Urges SupportWhat’s Next For Downtown

Downtown Racine got a creative jolt Friday as four locally owned spots cut ribbons during First Fridays, filling once-empty windows with a tea room, coffee counter, candle bar and specialty wings shop. The back-to-back openings of Ambitious Vibes Candle Bar, Vero Tea Room, J’s on the Go and T‑Bird Wings drew steady crowds and city leaders who were clearly eager to tout a downtown resurgence.

Ribbon Cuttings Highlight Downtown Revival

The Downtown Racine Corporation organized the ceremonies as part of its Creative Crawl First Fridays event, spacing each ribbon cutting across the evening so every storefront got its moment. As reported by TMJ4, Ambitious Vibes owner Analisa Garcia said, “Racine is just taking off, and downtown is going to be thriving even more.”

What Each New Spot Will Offer

Ambitious Vibes is setting up as a pour-your-own candle bar at 232 Main Street, with public workshops and private events on the calendar, according to Ambitious Vibes Candle Bar. The First Fridays map from the Downtown Racine Corporation shows the four ribbon cuttings slotted in 30-minute intervals to sync with the Creative Crawl and push foot traffic toward the Sixth and Main corridor.

Vero Tea Room Returns to Sixth Street

On Sixth Street, Veronica Carver is bringing her tea room back after a 2024 fire shut down her previous restaurant next door. Speaking with TMJ4, Carver said, “Coming back downtown and engaging my neighbors, it’s been a wonderful experience.”

City Posts Opening Dates, Urges Support

According to the City of Racine on Facebook, the city shared photos and details from the ribbon cuttings and urged residents to back the new business owners. The post notes Vero Tea Room’s planned May 19 opening and that Mayor Cory Mason joined the Downtown Racine Corporation at the ceremonies, matching the timing laid out in the First Fridays schedule.

What’s Next For Downtown

Owners of the new shops say they see themselves as part of a broader wave of activity that organizers hope will translate into more visitors and events through the summer. With First Fridays, workshops and fresh food options clustered along Sixth and Main, downtown Racine’s commercial strip is leaning hard into small-business energy.
