The Los Angeles Sparks will be without star Kelsey Plum for at least the next week.

Plum went down with a sprained ankle in practice Tuesday. While specifics of the incident or the severity of the injury are not yet known, Plum will be evaluated again in one week, the team announced.

Plum, now in her second year with the Sparks, has averaged a league-high 26.8 points per game so far this season. She has put up 6.3 assists and 1.8 rebounds per contest while shooting a career-high 58.9% from the field.

The Sparks currently sit at 3-3 on the season after Saturday’s 101-95 win over the Las Vegas Aces. Plum had 38 points in that game, going 6-of-7 from behind the arc. The 31-year-old is in her 10th season in the league. She was the No. 1 pick in the 2017 WNBA Draft out of Washington and helped lead the Aces to a pair of back-to-back championships in 2022 and 2023.

Plum was traded to the Sparks ahead of the 2025 campaign in a blockbuster deal that sent Jewell Loyd to the Aces from the Seattle Storm. Plum then signed a one-year, $999,999 deal to return to the Sparks this past offseason. She was in line for the $1.4 million supermax deal but opted to sign at a discounted rate.

While it’s unclear how long Plum will be sidelined, and the team likely won’t feel the need to rush her back, the injury comes at a slow time for the Sparks. The team is off until Friday’s matchup in Washington against the Mystics. They’ll then take on the Connecticut Sun on Saturday before returning home for a rematch with the Aces next Tuesday.

If Plum is out for just the one week, she could return in time for that third contest and miss only two games.
