San Antonio residents will soon have a new place to burn off some energy. Taroko Sports, a company founded in East Asia, is building its first Alamo City location.
Folks may notice it has a vibe similar to Main Event, but it includes more unique activations. It’s set to feature batting cages, electronic dart games, miniature bowling, an arcade and dining. A state filing shows that investors are pouring roughly half a million dollars into its creation at the Park North Shopping Plaza at 618 NW Loop 410.
Paul Ponzio, the company’s marketing manager, confirmed to MySA that construction is ongoing, and the grand opening is scheduled for this summer, most likely in mid-July. Renovations at the property, which previously housed an Urban Air trampoline park, began in December 2025.
The target audience is broad. Baseball and softball players looking to hone their skills, families seeking a non-boring outing, and friend groups looking for a unique nightlife destination will all find it intriguing, Ponzio said.
“The venue blends competition, technology, and entertainment into one destination where guests can swing, play, eat, and hang out for hours,” Ponzio added.
In photos shared with MySA, locals can get a sense of what Taroko Sports will look like.
Indoor recreation spaces have become popular among active residents who don’t want to endure the brutal Texas heat. Over the past two years, businesses such as Texas Pickle Hall and Rush Maxx have opened in town.
Ponzio says Taroko Sports has always considered San Antonio “a natural fit” for its U.S. expansion. Currently, only three operate in America. One is in Katy, near Houston, and the other two are in Arizona. At least two are in Taiwan.
“The city has a strong sports culture, a rapidly growing population, and a high demand for unique indoor entertainment experiences that appeal to both families and young adults,” they said. “Park North also stood out as an ideal location because it’s evolving into one of the city’s premier entertainment destinations, with strong foot traffic and a mix of dining, nightlife, and attractions nearby.”
The center will join plaza tenants Alamo Drafthouse and Laugh Out Loud Comedy, further strengthening the area’s status as a social hub. It’s set to occupy roughly 31,000 square feet. The company says the goal is “to create an experience that feels exciting and interactive from the moment guests walk through the doors.”
San Antonians can follow the company on social media to stay up to date on the July grand opening.
