Jonah Coleman was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the fourth round of 2026 NFL draft last month. A running back out of Washington, he had a productive career, rushing for over 3,000 yards between his time as an Arizona Wildcat and a Washington Husky. Although he had a bit of a down season in 2025 compared to his junior year (from 1,053 rushing yards to 758), he increased his rushing touchdowns from 12 in his junior year to 15 in his senior year.
That production is why Justin Melo of Sports Illustrated stated that Coleman was an underrated draft pick for the Broncos, complementing his three-down ability to catch passes and pass protect.
“The Denver Broncos were linked pre-draft to wanting to strengthen the running back room,” Melo wrote for SI. “They did so by selecting Jonah Coleman with their second pick. The Broncos drafted RJ Harvey last year, and J.K. Dobbins is still on the roster, so his path to snaps is somewhat complicated. Coleman is talented enough to compete for reps, however. His three-down ability as a pass catcher and protector will quickly endear itself to Sean Payton. He’ll quickly pick up the blocking scheme and execute his duties.”
Coleman was one of nine players who made Melo’s list of most underrated Day 3 draft picks in this year’s class. The 22-year-old running back will now aim to carve out a role behind Dobbins and Harvey this summer.
