The NBA, in collaboration with the Boston Celtics, introduced enhancements to the Boys & Girls Clubs in Dorchester, including a refurbished basketball court and upgraded teen center facilities.It’s part of the NBA Cares Legacy Project. New basketball court flooring, hoops, scoreboards, and upgraded books and technology for the teen center are among the enhancements. “In addition to the excitement of the community of having the games here, we can be part of these legacy projects,” said Adam Silver, NBA commissioner.The outreach efforts of the NBA and the Celtics extend beyond the basketball court. “The outreach that they do and just everything that they’ve done so far really shows you that they’re not just an NBA team, they’re here for the community,” said Kayla Collins.Leaders from the NBA and the Celtics, including players Jordan Walsh, Luke Kornet, Derrick White and Al Horford, attended the unveiling ceremony. All are currently making their push towards banner number 18.Following the ribbon-cutting, kids were given the opportunity to try out the new improvements with some of the players. In addition to the facility upgrades, a former member of the Boys & Girls Club member was gifted two tickets to Sunday’s game.
