“One Team” highlights the Spurs’ victories so far in the best-of-seven series, comparing them to how Texans will show up at the ballot box in November.
“San Antonio has shown the world how to win — the right way. Not by hogging the ball, but as one team,” Talarico says in the 30-second spot.
“I learned that as a teacher on the Westside. My students didn’t have much, but they had each other’s backs,” he adds. “In San Antonio, we win the right way. As one team.”
“One Team” will air across San Antonio’s media market during Game 5 and, if the series goes for another game, Game 6 of the Finals, as the city’s beloved team takes on the New York Knicks.
Following the Spurs’ win that night, the “Talarico Blessing” circulated on social media.
Videos of Talarico surfaced online, showing him rising to his feet, clapping as the Spurs scored and greeting fans.
His appearance drew comparisons to President Donald Trump’s at Madison Square Garden for Game 2, as Democratic social media accounts contrasted Talarico’s warm reception with reports that Trump was booed.
