Lowell High School junior Juanito DeLaCruz has been selected as one of the New England Patriots’ representatives for the 2026 NFL Latino Youth Honors program.
This initiative by the NFL and the Hispanic Heritage Foundation that recognizes outstanding student-athletes who excel in the classroom, on the field, and within their communities. Juanito is one of only two student-athletes selected by the Patriots.
Juanito embodies leadership and resilience. He is an honor roll student and a three-sport athlete, and has earned multiple Merrimack Valley Conference honors in football, indoor track, and outdoor track. During this past football season, Juanito helped contribute towards Lowell improving their record from 4-7 to 9-2. He also made key plays on the field during their first playoff win since 2013.
Beyond athletics, Juanito consistently displays strong character. As the man of the house, he helps support his family by caring for his younger brother, while also assisting his mother with daily responsibilities. While balancing these commitments, he still continues to excel academically and athletically. Juanito sets a good example and is a positive role model for younger students.
Juanito is proud of his Puerto Rican heritage. His grandmother was born in Puerto Rico and her experiences have helped shape his appreciation for family, culture, and community.
