The Eagles have many strengths, especially on defense, but it’s tough to beat arguably the NFL’s top tackle duo of Jordan Mailata (left) and Lane Johnson (right). Mailata has ranked no lower than sixth at tackle in Pro Football Focus (PFF) grade each of the past three seasons. He’s not going to start, but the 2019 first-rounder is going to play a role in the Eagles’ offense. Last season, he had 49 catches in Kansas City for 587 yards and five touchdowns, and his average of 12.0 yards per reception was his highest since 2020. But he also registered a 32 overall score (out of 100) in ESPN’s receiver scores. — Schatz

I can’t argue with anything they said in that writeup. It would have been nice for them to mention that Riq Woolen had a great spring and the early reviews on him in Philly are very good. They also should have mentioned Marcus Epps in the safety notes. DeJean will only be there in base looks, so that won’t be very often. Other teams of interest…SEA at 3, SF at 11, KC at 12, Dallas at 14, WAS at 21 and NYG at 23. Miami came in last. We know Howie Roseman and his staff do a brilliant job of roster building. The results speak for themselves. It is good to see what others think and to have some thoughts put into perspective. Trying to figure out who should be higher between WAS and NYG isn’t easy. Both teams have some good pieces, but also gaping holes on the roster.
Eagles Rookie Review: Jihaad Campbell’s areas for improvement – BGN
Jihaad Campbell was my number one linebacker in the 2025 NFL Draft (as he was for nearly everyone), so it’s safe to say I loved this pick at the time. I didn’t think there was any chance the Eagles would have the opportunity to draft him. The film looked like that of a top-15 player, and I assumed the only reason he would slide was that teams were worried about his shoulder injury. A year later, I haven’t changed my opinion despite an up-and-down rookie season. Campbell’s rookie season wasn’t perfect. There were the expected growing pains, a mid-season benching, and plenty of moments where his lack of experience at linebacker showed. But there were also stretches when he looked exactly like the player I hoped he would become. The athleticism translated immediately, the coverage ability was outstanding, and every now and then you saw flashes of a player who should eventually become one of the very best linebackers in football. When I wrote my original review, I probably spent more time talking about what Campbell would allow Vic Fangio’s defense to become than I did talking about Campbell himself. Looking back now, I think I spoke more about his schematic fit than his individual talent because I was so excited about it. However, I will try to look a little more at the player in this one.

If I were to predict which longshots could force their way onto the roster via a good camp, I would go with undrafted rookies Kapena Gushiken or Maximus Pulley. The opportunity is certainly there at safety.

But then he’s also athletic enough to win vs. man.”

Philadelphia Eagles: Sean Mannion, offensive coordinator — Mannion will be Nick Sirianni’s sixth play-caller in six seasons, but not every change has been the same. Last year, Kevin Patullo was viewed as the continuity candidate. After the offense’s worst rankings of the Sirianni era, the Eagles did not just change play-callers; they changed schemes. Mannion played for Sean McVay and the Kubiaks, and he coached under Matt LaFleur. His system has roots from that tree. Look for the quarterback to play under center more frequently and for the running game to use wide zone concepts. Mannion will need to adjust to what works for his personnel, but the buy-in from quarterback Jalen Hurts, running back Saquon Barkley and the offensive line during the spring should be encouraging.

80) A.J. BROWN — A.J. Brown’s final season in Philadelphia featured more noise off the field than on it, but that doesn’t mean he wasn’t still terrific between the lines. The new Patriots No. 1 WR was also the Eagles’ top receiver in 2025, leading Philly in targets (121) and catches, while recording his third straight year with seven touchdown catches and his fourth in a row with more than 1,000 yards. This wasn’t Brown’s best campaign, hence his drop in the Top 100, but even through the struggles of ‘25, the physical wideout proved he’s among the best in the game. NFL Pro Insight for Brown: Brown gained 263 receiving yards and a touchdown on hitch routes this season, second in the NFL, trailing only George Pickens (275).

Tier 1: Elite Optimizers (>0.5 WAE). This tier features some of the best head coaches in the game today, head coaches who successfully manage thin margins and consistently squeeze extra wins out of tight games. Eagles fans should disregard this entire post. Nick Sirianni, well-known for his grumpiness, persistent offensive stagnation, poor late-game management, and lack of locker room discipline should be fired immediately. Who needs a guy whose teams consistently find ways to win close games?

I legit had an opinion piece in the hopper about why the Commanders should ignore all the social media nonsense and sign receiver Brandon Aiyuk when the 49ers release him. This morning, I hit delete. I think we’re done here. Overpay for Stefon Diggs. Maybe $10-15 million for one year. All guaranteed. It’s okay. The Commanders can afford it from a cap perspective. They need another receiver. Even the Treylon Burks truthers must agree with that.
NY Giants training camp: Setting realistic expectations for the 2026 season – Big Blue View
The New England Patriots went 4-13 in 2023, Bill Belichick’s final season. They again went 4-13 in 2024, Jerod Mayo’s only season as head coach. In 2025, New England hired Mike Vrabel, a veteran head coach with a winning pedigree. They featured a highly drafted second-year quarterback. They re-made their roster and restored a winning culture. The Patriots went a stunning 14-3 and represented the AFC in the Super Bowl. There are Giants-Patriots parallels, obviously. Multiple horrible seasons in a row. The hiring of Harbaugh, a no-nonsense veteran head coach with a winning pedigree like Vrabel. Drake Maye and Jaxson Dart. Like the Patriots, the Giants this offseason re-made their roster. Don’t, though, expect the Giants to reprise the Patriots’ success.
Balogun Available for Belgium Game, says FIFA – Stars And Stripes FC
In the United States Men’s National Team’s match against Bosnia Herzegovina on July 1st, Folarin Balogun picked up a red card for a serious foul and was ejected from the game in a decision that was heavily criticized after the match. That red card came with an automatic one-game suspension that had Balogun set to miss the Round of 16 elimination game against Belgium. However, earlier today, FIFA announced that they were suspending that suspension, clearing the way for the American striker to play after all. FIFA issued the following statement.

Why did the Celtics trade Brown? I don’t think it’s because he believes he’s the smartest guy in the room, or because they couldn’t repair the relationship. It’s more because Brown finished with a -1.6 RAPM last season. By time decay RAPM, Brown ranks No. 270 in the league. What’s RAPM? It stands for “regularized adjusted plus-minus,” and it’s a metric that doesn’t consider traditional box score numbers like points and rebounds, instead measuring a player’s individual impact on their team’s scoring margin per 100 possessions. It’s adjusted for the strength of teammates and opponents, and features “ridge regression” to filter out statistical noise. What this essentially comes down to is that the Celtics are better with Brown off the court. If it happened in one or two years, that might be a fluke. Instead, Boston is better with Brown on the bench when accounting for his entire 10-year career.
