We’re back with yet another edition of the daily roundup, highlighting the biggest developments in MMA. In case you missed the noteworthy moments, dive into today’s compilation! We will start this roundup with four fighters earning bonuses at UFC Louisville. Also, 19-year-old Raul Rosas Jr. is among those four athletes as he defeated Ricky Turcios.

Then we will shift our attention to referee Jason Herzog, who opened up after a less-than-impressive stoppage in the main event of UFC Louisville. Finally, we will sum up this compilation with the news of the reigning UFC champion of the heaviest division, Jon Jones. Fans recently witnessed ‘Bones’ breaking into tears on the UFC’s Roku series, Fight Inc: Inside the UFC.

UFC 302, as outstanding as the headliner was, didn’t really live up to expectations, as only two fighters, Islam Makhachev and Kevin Holland, were able to receive bonuses. Well, guess what? UFC Louisville didn’t disappoint as the crowd at KFC Yum! Center witnessed four fighters grabbing bonuses, including Brunno Ferreira, Carlos Prates, Zach Reese, and 19-year-old Raul Rosas Jr. All these fighters took home e an extra $50,000 after registering impressive submission finishes.

Meanwhile, Raul Rosas Jr, who’d wrap up the fight in the second round, would also go on to recreate a moment that involved MMA’s biggest export, Conor McGregor, and would state in the Octagon interview, “Dana! A hundred G’s!” Rosas Jr. seems to be on his way to greatness as after his loss against Christian Rodriguez, he’s put on some amazing performances, which could see him become the youngest champion in the UFC, surpassing Jon Jones. Now let’s move over to the other news from the same UFC event involving a questionable referee stoppage.

Jason Herzog intends to ‘re-evaluate’ his decision

MMA referee, and one of the very best at his job, Jason Herzog has set the MMA community in angry mode after his controversial decision to stop the main event at UFC Louisville between Jared Cannonier and Nassourdine Imavov. In what could be assumed to be a big win for the French national, the 28-year-old seemingly caught ‘The Killa Gorilla’ in a bad position in the fourth round of their fight. A right hook was all Imavov needed to destroy Cannonier’s equilibrium, but the former title challenger wasn’t going to back down.

I get it. I know what I was seeing in the moment, but I’ve gotten enough feedback telling me I need to reevaluate, so I will. https://t.co/YwbIg9Mbdh

— Jason Herzog (@JasonHerzogMMA) June 9, 2024

Jared Cannonier stood back up in an attempt to get hold of himself and get back into the fight. But you won’t believe what happened later. Referee Jason Herzog would intervene only to put an end to the 5-round battle in the 4th. Fans were upset, clearly, and sounded off on the referee, who seems to have caught the attention of the slew of critical comments thrown at him, and he’s decided to look into the matter and assess what went wrong. But is this going to be enough or is Dana White planning to take action as well? That remains to be seen. Now, let’s get down to the final piece of news for this roundup, involving Jon Jones.

Jon Jones got emotional after learning the severe nature of his injury

Jon Jones is out currently, thanks to an untimely shoulder injury, but he’s coping nicely now and may return to fight this year, at the closing stages. So far, the severity of his injury was only limited to the updates he provided and the comments Dana White made after learning about his injury. But guess what? The news appeared to be a stake in the heart of Jones. In a recent leaked clip from Roku’s Fight Inc: Inside the UFC, the heavyweight champion was seen getting informed by Hunter Campbell, alongside Dana White, about his injury status and told him that he could be out for up to a year. That was a shocking fact for Jones to digest.

Jon Jones would continue to ask Hunter Campbell if he was serious about the recovery time because he clearly didn’t want to believe in it. He almost broke into tears as Dana White empathized with his pound-for-pound pick. It must have been a heartbreaking moment for Jones, but now, he’s training and planning to return soon for the legacy fight against the former 2-time champion, Stipe Miocic.
