SPARTA, Wis. (WKBT) — Centro Latino and several local businesses hosted a free community event at the Sparta Welcome Center earlier this evening, bringing together music, raffles, and resources for the Hispanic community.
The event on Milwaukee Street drew attendees who connected with organizations covering a range of services including health, financial services, education, insurance, and immigration support.
“Our group offers resources to immigrants whether they’re new in town, whether they’re established, whether they’ve just arrived,” said Linda Mershon, a board member for Centro Latino. “We just offer resources. Whatever they need, we find a way to help them find it in La Crosse or the surrounding areas.”
The event provided a valuable opportunity for community members to access multiple services and organizations in one location. By bringing together representatives from various sectors, the event made it easier for attendees to learn about and connect with resources they may need.
Organizations at the event offered information and support in areas critical to immigrant and Hispanic community members, including:
-
Health resources and services
-
Financial services and banking
-
Education and youth programs
-
Insurance options
-
Immigration support and legal resources
