Authorities are investigating a reported shooting at a Kroger Marketplace in Cypress Wednesday afternoon, with multiple victims reported and a possible suspect detained.
Harris County Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman said deputies responded to the Kroger Marketplace on Cypresswood Drive near Bridgeland after reports of shots fired inside the store.
Details remain limited as the investigation continues. Initial reports from Precinct 4 indicated that one person had been shot, but the constable’s office later updated its preliminary information to say that multiple people were shot. The exact number of victims and the extent of their injuries remain unclear.
“Prayers for all involved,” Precinct 4 said in their social media post.
Herman noted that witnesses described a possible shooter wearing a yellow shirt and black pants firing a weapon inside the store. At least one person has been detained and was described as a “possible suspect,” but the investigation remains underway.
Residents in the area are urged to “please avoid the area and seek an alternate route to allow first responders to safely conduct their investigation.”
Kroger, in a statement to ABC 13 meanwhile, said it would not be able to comment at this time.
“Out of respect for the ongoing police investigation, we are unable to release information at this time,” a spokesperson told the TV station. “We appreciate your understanding.”
