DALLAS — For the first time ever, the closing bell rang at the headquarters of the new Texas Stock Exchange (TXSE).

TXSE CEO Jim Lee rang the gold ceremonial bell at 3 p.m. CST on Friday to signify the closing of the trading week and official opening of the new exchange. Leaders have been slowly launching the exchange over the past month or so, and Friday’s ceremony signified their operations and tickers now being fully live.

Folks working at the exchange hope to have exchange traded funds available before the end of the year, with business listings and initial public offerings beginning in 2027.

Additionally, the exchange is currently operating out of a temporary location in the Uptown Dallas area while their permanent home is being constructed in the Downtown business district — being dubbed “Y’all Street.”

While they’ve still got work to do, Lee said Friday’s bell ringing was a major step forward in the birth of the first new financial market in decades.

“This is pure infrastructure, built to support what comes next. Real competition for primary listings, for the first time in decades,” said Lee.
