NEW YORK CITY (WABC) — In this episode of “Tiempo,” we’ll recognize a handful of New Jersey elementary school students who just achieved a major milestone.
They became some of the youngest students in the country to earn the global seal of biliteracy en español.
The award is a highly respected, internationally recognized credential that certifies an individual’s proficiency in two or more languages.
The biliteracy scholars are from the Jump Immersion School in East Hanover.
And the National Dominican Day Parade is about to begin with the cutting of the ribbon in Midtown Manhattan.
The annual event celebrates Dominican culture and the many triumphs of Dominicanos here in the city.
Did you know Dominicans represent the largest Hispanic population in New York City? They make up nearly 35% of Latinos in the five boroughs.

Joining us with a preview of the parade is Gregoria Feliciano, board member at the National Dominican Day Parade and Dr. Ramon Tallaj, the founder of SOMOS Healthcare and the grand marshal of this year’s parade.
